The concept of development. Introduction
Cryosurgical methods of treatment of some diseases (first of all oncological) get increasing popularity in a number of the countries worldwide, both among doctors, and patients. Cryosurgery gets status of independent, perspective, efficient field of medicine and continues its rapid development, overstepping the limits of countries its traditional localization.
Cryosurgery concerns the fields of medicine which efficiency is significantly depends on technical opportunities of equipment used. The further development and advances of this very perspective direction of modern medicine in many respects will depend on the way of cryosurgical equipment developers and cryosurgical technics they can offer to practitioners.
Activity of designers of cryosurgical equipment is first based on information obtained from their medical colleagues. Very often this information has especially subjective and not always sincere character that affected results of designer’s work. To avoid similar subjectivity and errors, the list of the basic demands to cryosurgical equipment is necessary to be developed and which developers of cryosurgical apparatuses must adhere to in their work. In turn, above mention demands should be based on action on mechanisms of cryodestruction of biological tissue.
Basing on results of numerous scientific and practical studies made by representatives of different scientific schools, as well as on our many years’ experience in creating of cryosurgical equipment and its practical use in the leading scientific medical organizations of Ukraine, Russia, Austria, etc., we offer the our variant of the basic technical requirements that, in our opinion, should be laid in basis of international standards for cryosurgical technics.
- High refrigerating power — ability to achieve temperature of the working area of cryoinstrument which is in thermal contact with freezing object on the level of minus 180°С and below.
- To establish, achieve and keep with split-hair accuracy temperature of cryoexposure on any temperature level within working range of temperatures (from 0°С to minus 180°С).
- High accuracy for measuring actual temperature in working area of cryoinstrument.
- Wide kit of cryoinstruments and applicators.
- Cryoexposure automatic control.
- Continuous monitoring the dynamics of freezing area extending and measuring of its size in three-dimensional orientation.
- High reliability, safety, simplicity and convenience in use.
- Profitability - low power consumption, optimum cryoagent consumption.
In our opinion, the above-stated requirements should be laid in the basis of international normative documents determined technological level of cryosurgical equipment. Such normative requirements will allow excluding an opportunity for certification of cryosurgical equipment, which does not allow realizing the basic advantages of cryosurgical method of treatment.
This time cryosurgical method of treatment already took place in a number of fields of medicine where the stage of investigations and trials was mainly finished. Doctors were convinced in efficiency of this method and from designers and producers they wait for modern cryosurgical devises that allows wide application of cryosurgical method in clinical practice.
On initial stage of development, cryosurgeons used simplest far from perfect cryosurgical devices, but high scientific and research motivation of cryosurgeons allowed to accept all possible inconveniences and problems made by the first cryosurgical devises. Now, practitioners should be supplied with such cryosurgical technics, which provide realization of all benefits of this method and would not cause negative emotions during its use.
All parameters inherent to any medical devices is conditionally divided on specific (cryogenic, in this case), operational and economic.
